Security Engineer (Security Operations)
Skills
- Experience with a modern programming language (Python, Go, C++, Rust, etc.)
- Hands-on incident response or security operations experience
- Experience building ETL pipelines or data integrations for logging and detection
- Familiarity supporting services in Kubernetes with monitoring and automation
- Knowledge of SIEMs, security telemetry, and standard response procedures
- Understanding of Windows, Linux, and/or macOS enterprise security controls
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and improve security detection mechanisms and automation frameworks used by the Security Operations Center
- Engage owners of high-risk systems to identify and prioritize detection gaps
- Investigate anomalous or suspicious behavior identified during detection engineering
- Participate in adversary emulation exercises to validate and improve detections
- Develop data ingestion/ETL and enrichment services to improve visibility for threat detection
- Create automation to reduce time-to-triage for security detections and incidents
Education
- 2+ years professional experience in incident response, security operations, or security engineering (can substitute for degree)
- OR bachelor’s degree in computer science, security engineering, cyber security, engineering, math, or other STEM discipline
