- Hands-on experience with sensors (accelerometers, pressure sensors, strain gauges, temperature sensors)
- Hardware/mechanical design experience with CAD and drawing production
- Thermal and structural analysis and FEA experience
- Tolerance analysis and failure mode assessment for vibration, shock, and thermal loads
- Experience packaging PCBs and integrating sensors
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (welding, wire bonding, semiconductor processes) and design for manufacturability
- Test lab experience and vendor communication skills
- ITAR/US work authorization compliance
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical housings and packaging for physical sensors (pressure, acceleration, flow, temperature, strain, etc.)
- Develop analytical and finite element thermal, structural, and fatigue models
- Create 3D CAD models, production 2D drawings, and perform tolerance analysis
- Perform failure analysis related to thermal loads, vibration, and shock
- Plan and execute mechanical test and qualification for sensors
- Collaborate with vendors and production teams to ensure designs meet manufacturability and high-volume production requirements
- Support inspection, integration, and production ramp activities
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (required)
- Master's degree in related field (preferred)
