- Manufacturing engineering and NPI for mechanical products
- Supplier quality and supplier development

- Familiarity with forming, extrusion, draw forming, tube manufacturing and welding processes
- Experience with machining, cutting, and assembly operations
- Knowledge of PPAP/APQP, control plans, FMEA and first article inspection
- Statistical methods (DOE, process capability) and problem solving (8D)
- Experience with quality systems (AS9100/NADCAP) and MRP/ERP systems
- Proficient in MS Office/Excel and technical report writing
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 40-50%) and work extended hours when required
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical point of contact for assigned parts and assemblies at suppliers, resolving emergent manufacturing and quality issues
- Own new product introduction (NPI) for assemblies: select manufacturing methods, identify and qualify suppliers, and establish ramp-to-rate processes
- Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews early in the development and prior to sourcing
- Work with procurement to find and vet suppliers for quality and takt time capability
- Create and flow down specifications, control plans and quality requirements to suppliers
- Evaluate and scope new forming, cutting, and inspection technologies and suppliers to improve rate, quality, and efficiency
- Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions at supplier and/or SpaceX, driving issues to closure
- Create and disposition issue tickets, coordinate rework/repair/use-as-is dispositions with engineering
- Lead containment activities and coordinate cross-functional resolution plans for discrepant product
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- Master’s degree in engineering or business preferred
