Skills
- Expert-level Oracle and PostgreSQL administration
- Strong SQL query optimization and replication experience
- Linux server and storage troubleshooting skills
- Experience building monitoring tools and tuning databases
- Scripting and automation (Python, bash)
- Backup/restore and DR design and testing
Responsibilities
- Own health, uptime, performance, and lifecycle of Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
- Design, deploy, and maintain database monitoring and alerting
- Develop automation for routine DBA tasks using Python, bash, or similar
- Design, implement, and test backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Optimize queries and replication to improve system efficiency
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot data issues and improve data models
- Document configurations, runbooks, and change actions
- Provide cross-training, coaching, and participate in on-call rotation
- Contribute to architecture, capacity planning, and root cause analysis
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent professional experience accepted (see basic requirements)
