At Sourcebooks, we are a dynamic and innovative publishing house, committed to delivering high-quality books across a variety of genres. We are currently seeking an Associate Production Editor to join our team and oversee the production of a portfolio of adult titles. In this role, you’ll be responsible for executing the entire production process of approximately 50 titles per year, coordinating between editorial, design, and external vendors, ensuring books are produced on schedule and to the highest standards. If you have a passion for publishing, an eye for high text quality, exceptional attention to detail, and strong project management skills, we’d love to have you on our team!

This position can be hybrid in Naperville or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. This role involves little to no travel, with the exception of possible attendance at company-wide meetings.

This is a Non-Exempt, hourly position with a range of $21.64 - $26.44/hourly. We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.

What you’ll do:
  • Project Management: Oversee production from manuscript to final print files for 40 - 60 titles annually, coordinating with editorial, design, and external vendors to meet deadlines.
  • Title Management: Collaborate with Managing Editorial, editors, authors, and stakeholders to ensure manuscripts, covers, and pages are prepared, edited, and formatted to high standards, adhering to style guidelines.
  • Quality Management: Oversee and manage the quality assurance of all title-related material, taking content prescribed by author/editor and completing the translation of that material to page.
  • Imprint-Specific Production: Manage projects across multiple imprints, adapting workflows and schedules as needed.
  • Vendor & Resource Management: Work with the Freelance Resource Manager to secure and manage freelance resources, ensuring editorial quality throughout production.
What you bring:
  • Proven experience in publishing production or project management, handling multiple titles.
  • strong understanding of the publishing process, with a focus on editorial quality and deadline management.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated experience in managing the quality of printed and digital material.
  • Experience in copyediting and proofreading materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style.
  • identity, disability, or protected veteran status.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Filemaker).
We’d love to have someone with a passion for publishing and a commitment to producing high-quality books join our team!
