Skills
- 10+ years of software development experience with demonstrated impact
- 4+ years of engineering management experience leading teams and hiring
- Experience building and productionizing AI/ML features for search, including vector and semantic search
- Familiarity with ranking models (e.g., Learning to Rank) and NLP for query understanding and document analysis
- Experience scaling ML models in a search stack and operating production systems
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and building highly available customer-facing applications
- Familiarity with large-scale search/IR systems (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Solr) preferred
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
Responsibilities
- Manage one or more related teams (8–12+ engineers) across a product area, driving delivery and product quality
- Coach engineers and review architectures and designs, guiding best practices and technical standards
- Collaborate with Product and Design to evaluate feature trade-offs for market and implementation effectiveness
- Drive cross-team technical initiatives and resolve multi-team dependencies and technical challenges
- Plan and deliver end-to-end projects with high ambiguity, communicating risks and aligning stakeholders
- Mentor individual contributors and managers; identify and develop successors
- Recruit, retain, and grow exceptional engineering talent across teams
- Set yearly and quarterly technical and operational goals and report on relevant metrics
- Communicate technical strategy and progress to executives and non-technical stakeholders
- Establish repeatable processes to measure and improve team efficiency and operational excellence
- Champion AI adoption across product and engineering lifecycles to enhance customer experiences
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
