Vice President of Product and Technology

Get to know our Client: Promise686

Our client’s heart is for vulnerable children. With more than 140 million orphans worldwide—and over 400,000 in the United States—they recognize the urgent need for strong families to step in—partnering with churches across the nation to provide children what they need most: safe, loving, and lasting homes. Through their Family Advocacy Ministry (FAM) model, they equip and train churches to support foster, adoptive, and biological families in crisis—mobilizing faith communities to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up in a family where they are cared for and known.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Promise vision is to fulfill the promise that “God sets the lonely into families” (Psalm 68:6). Promise mobilizes church communities in order to meet three goals: (1) Prevent children from coming into the foster care system. (2) Intervene when children enter the system. (3) Connect children and families when children are in need of a permanent home. The Promise model hinges on developing strong Family Advocacy Ministries (FAMs) in local churches to accomplish this work. The Promise staff works diligently to guide these FAMs to success and to give them the best resources available to maximize impact. Through innovative tools, training, and technology, we help expand care for at-risk children—one community at a time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Vice President of Product and Technology is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for driving innovation and excellence across Promise686’s technology and product portfolio. This leader will oversee the development and execution of the organization’s product strategy, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and user needs—primarily churches, volunteers, and nonprofit partners. The Vice President of Product and Technology will also lead the internal technology team, manage vendor relationships, and maintain best-in-class digital tools that scale impact and foster deep community engagement.

Product Leadership:

  • Define and evolve Promise686’s product vision, roadmap, and user experience strategy across all platforms.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure product development aligns with organizational strategy and stakeholder feedback.
  • Champion user-centric design by incorporating the voices of churches, volunteers, families, and nonprofit partners.
  • Measure product success through KPIs, engagement data, and impact reporting.

Technology Leadership

  • Oversee all technology operations and infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Lead the development team (in-house and contractors), fostering an agile, innovative, and collaborative culture.
  • Select and manage technology vendors, SaaS tools, and platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and best practices in cybersecurity.

Implementing Promise Serves Software:

  • Work with staff to create an intentional plan of growth into new areas/regions, training, and ongoing training, while enhancing platform use among current churches.
  • Keep FAM Coaches informed about new tools, technology, and enhancements so they can relate these to local, active non-profit personnel and active church point persons.
  • Regularly review requests and responses, and report issues and recommend enhancements

Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to integrate technology into overall strategic planning.
  • Lead initiatives for digital transformation and organizational efficiency.
  • Translate complex technology concepts for stakeholders, board members, and donors in clear and compelling ways.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that could enhance mission delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Dedicated to Promise686’s Mission and Core Values
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in product management, software development, or technology strategy—preferably in nonprofit, SaaS, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Proven track record of launching and scaling digital platforms or products.
  • Experience leading product and engineering teams in agile environments.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, volunteer management platforms, and data analytics tools is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on technical and product expertise.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling ability—able to inspire internal teams and external partners.
  • Deep understanding of UX/UI principles, product lifecycle, and technology infrastructure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Product Design, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
