Director of Financial, Planning & Analysis – Samsung TV Plus
Position Summary
The Samsung global services team is responsible for driving Smart TV and mobile services businesses by building intelligent, integrated, cross-platform services that delight and entertain users.Samsung TV Plus is an industry-leading FAST (free ad-supported TV) and VOD (video-on-demand) service reaching +30 countries and millions of devices globally across TV and mobile. One of the first FAST platforms with more than 630M active devices, Samsung TV Plus now offers more than 3,000 channels globally, along with thousands of shows and movies on-demand.
As Head FP&A, Director for TV Plus, you will play a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis. This newly created role requires a mix of attention to detail, financial modeling acumen, strategic thinking, and media domain expertise. TV Plus is in the midst of an exciting period of growth and development, and seeks an experienced leader to contribute during this critical phase.
Role and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct in-depth P&L analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Lead creation of bottoms up annual budget by collaborating with functional leaders
- Utilize historical data and industry trends to forecast future revenues (FAST) and expenses including supply & demand drivers for engagement & monetization (MAUs, HOV, ARPU etc.)
- Produce comprehensive financial reports for management including content spend ROI, margin analysis, and budget variance analysis not limited to TV Plus platform marketing, CDN tech costs etc.
- Track key performance indicators, MBOs, and analyze trends to support nimble decision making
- Collaborate with regional Finance team to enhance and streamline partner financial reporting
- Design and deliver presentations to senior leadership reviewing financial performance and key business & commercialization initiatives
- Provide financial modeling support for ad-hoc strategic projects
Skills and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree required. MBA preferred
- 12+ years experience in investment banking, management consulting, or finance/strategy/FP&A working at the intersection of media & tech
- Strong communication, writing and presentation skills. This person will interact with senior executives with the ability to dive deep into data yet convey complex concepts in simple terms
- Exceptional quantitative, financial modeling, and problem solving skills in ambiguous business settings, leveraging data and business acumen to drive business insights & financial results
- Ability to thrive and multitask in an unstructured business environment
- Self-starter with an insatiable will to get stuff done
- Ability to bring structure to large-scale, ambiguous problems
- Passion and knowledge of the video streaming market especially FAST/AVOD
Compensation for this role, for candidates based in Los Angeles, CA, is expected to be between $200,000 ~ $230,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
