The Job:  

The Stanley Black & Decker (SBD) Global Trade Compliance team is comprised of professionals who ensure adherence to global import and export regulations while improving cash flow, increasing supply chain speed, and reducing risk. We deploy a comprehensive global trade compliance program that adapts to the changing regulatory environment and business requirements. 
 

The Senior Trade Compliance Analyst bridges sourcing/procurement activities with compliance requirements, optimizing sourcing decisions to minimize duty costs and ensure regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate has both trade compliance and procurement/sourcing experience and collaborates closely with internal teams and external suppliers to optimize global sourcing and minimize duty costs as it relates to Trade Compliance. As a remote employee, you’ll get to:  

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable international trade laws and regulations, including customs regulations that relate to various US Trade Remedies/Tariffs (Sec. 301, ADD/CVD, etc.)
  • Analyze supplier manufacturing processes, bills of materials, and supply chains to support country of origin in accordance with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
  • Conduct assessments, utilizing sourcing knowledge to understand component origins, value-add, and assembly operations.
  • Maintain robust documentation supporting origin determinations, including supplier certifications, contracts, and process flows.
  • Advise procurement and sourcing teams on trade compliance risks and opportunities related to supplier selection, sourcing changes, and new product introductions.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address CBP inquiries, audits, and requests for binding rulings.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to structure sourcing agreements and contracts that align with compliance requirements
  • Provides support for other compliance related activities within the department in accordance with SBD policies, ensuring consistency and compliance. 

The Person:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain Management, procurement, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, or related field with a focus on US regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of country-of-origin determination regulations and HTSUS classification
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze supplier operations and supply chain structures.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in trade compliance software and tools.
  • Professional certification in trade compliance is a plus.
  • Experience in a multinational corporation or consulting firm
