SUMMARY

The Digital Editor, K-12 Math Assessments, is responsible for the development of K-12 programs in Math. Under the leadership of a Manager, the Digital Editor will play a critical role in building and maintaining digital products, including nationally-normed assessments and their satellite products. Digital Editors have responsibility for developing high-quality products and publishing those digital products to ensure an optimal customer experience. The candidate will have an excellent understanding of mathematics and mathematics assessment, digital development processes and tools, and bring to the position those skills to build market-winning product offerings.

This is a term of project position, expected to last for one year.

The Digital Editor knows the subject matter for their assigned area and uses that knowledge to develop competitive offerings. The Editor is knowledgeable about all of the “details” in the plan for the assigned project, including specs, writing guidelines, schedule constraints, QA protocols, etc. The Editor relies on guidance from his/her direct supervisor to ensure that the evolving product meets the objectives of the plan, its budget, and its schedule.

Supervisory responsibilities 

Manages vendor partners on a limited basis to complete assigned projects.

Primary responsibilities

  • Be a key participant in teams of Editors, Learning Scientists, and Digital Producers working on innovative product offerings.
  • Oversee work of outside vendor partners. Contribute to the maintenance of assessment development guidelines. 
  • Review content to ensure quality of content and compliance with state standards and assessment specifications.
  • Manage inputs and outputs to the Company’s databases and platforms, working with others to upload files and spreadsheets to the Company’s web applications, and reviewing and approving online content.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Related work experience 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in educational publishing or mathematics assessment development. 
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with state standards, mathematics assessment item specifications, and knowledge of assessment best practices preferred. 

Formal education or equivalent

  • B.S./B.A. degree in mathematics or math education.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to complete projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Experience using office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and an aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively in visual, oral, and written form.
  • Highly organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • High degree of flexibility and tolerance for change.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of educational publishing products and processes, including eBook formats and learning management systems.
  • Prior experience with Content Management Systems and metadata tagging protocols. 
  • Familiarity with various authoring and programming tools, including but not limited to HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript.
