Position Summary
The Billing Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the Rehab department’s billing processes, ensuring accurate, timely submission of claims and resolution of denials/holds. This role is responsible for maximizing and increasing potential revenue capture, reducing leakage, and supporting the department’s financial performance in alignment with its growth.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor daily billing activity and ensure accurate, timely claim submission.
Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and holds; work with payers to secure payment.
Track and analyze denials by category (CARC codes, payers, provider affiliation issues, etc.) and identify trends.
Coordinate with therapists and front-desk staff to ensure proper coding, documentation, and charge capture.
Maintain logs of accounts on hold and proactively follow up until resolution.
Collaborate with the hospital’s revenue cycle, finance, and compliance teams to streamline processes.
Prepare monthly reports on collections, denials, and revenue capture opportunities for leadership review.
Educate staff on billing/documentation requirements to reduce recurring errors.
Assist in payer credentialing/affiliation maintenance for rendering providers.
Identify gaps in billing processes and implement improvements to increase realized and potential revenue capture.
Qualifications
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle, or related field.
Knowledge of therapy/rehabilitation billing and payer rules strongly preferred.
Familiarity with denial codes, payer portals, and EHR/EMR billing workflows.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Salary Range: $64,500 - $73,500
