Job Description

The Value-Based Platform Economics and Finance Business Partner is a member of the finance team and will serve as a fully-dedicated business partner to the Risant Health Value Based Platform (VBP) product team. The VBP Product team plays a key role in shaping and delivering solutions that advance value-based care within Risant Health’s subsidiary organizations and communities. The portfolio of solutions will drive industry leading outcomes in total cost of care reduction, clinical quality improvement, elevated clinician and consumer experiences, and health equity.

The VBP Economics and Finance Business Partner drives the economic planning of Risant Health’s portfolio of value-based care solutions, facilitating financial discipline in investment and portfolio management, proper consideration of value creation across FFS and FFV economics, and promoting overall success in achieving the enterprise impact aspiration. This role partners extensively cross-functionally to provide economic thought partnership, expertise in FFS and FFV economics and CMS VBC programs, and data-driven insights to guide management decision-making.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Solution Economic Cases: Partners with product leads, clinicians, IT, and local leaders to develop business cases around new solutions, including full financial (both FFS and FFV) and non-financial value levers (e.g., quality), and refine those cases through development, deployment, and operations.
  • Value Realization Tracking: Partner with IT, Data & Analytics, and Finance teams on tracking and reporting of investment and value creation.
  • Economic Analysis: Economic analysis as needed, including but not limited to identification of opportunity spaces, evaluation of performance dynamics, and scenario analysis. 
  • CMS Program SME: Serve as an internal subject matter expert on CMS program economics, tracking new program releases and changes and identifying implications to Risant Health businesses.
  • Program Economic Case: Maintains the overall VBP economic case, including multi-year investment and value creation projections to support delivery on overall ambitions and responsible returns on investment. 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Health Administration, Public Health, Business, or a related field. 
  • Seven (7) years in healthcare strategy, financial modeling, or value-based care program design and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with product, implementation, and strategy teams
  • Healthcare Economics & Value-Based Care Expertise: Deep understanding of value-based payment models, cost containment strategies, and healthcare financial performance metrics
  • Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Proficiency in building and interpreting complex financial models to project ROI, cost savings, and economic impact
  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Ability to analyze large datasets using tools like Excel, SQL, or Python/R to extract insights and support decision-making
  • Business Case Development:  Experience creating clear, data-driven business cases that link solution design to economic outcomes
  • Stakeholder Communication: Skilled in translating technical economic findings into actionable insights for non-technical audiences

Preferred: 

  • Master’s degree (e.g., MHA, MPH, MBA, or MS in Health Economics or related discipline)
  • Experience working within or alongside provider organizations, payers, or health systems implementing VBC models
  • Familiarity with CMS payment models, ACOs, or alternative payment arrangements
  • Experience in a matrixed or integrated delivery system environment
  • Advanced Analytics Tools: Familiarity with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or SAS for data visualization and reporting
  • Healthcare Claims & Utilization Data: Experience working with claims, EMR, or utilization data to assess performance under VBC models
  • Scenario Planning & Sensitivity Analysis: Ability to model multiple economic scenarios and assess risk/return trade-offs
  • Process Improvement Methodologies: Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other frameworks for operational and financial optimization
