About the Role:
The Director of Program Management will join a complex and matrixed organization with a sharp focus on enterprise-wide Artificial Intelligence initiatives. This strategic leadership role is responsible for driving alignment across key programs, ensuring the synchronized execution of full life cycle technical projects, and delivering strategic outcomes through effective governance, communication, and performance tracking.
The Director will lead and provide direction to a team of Project and Program Managers, championing standardized project management practices while adapting to evolving business needs. This includes the development, evolution, and enhancement of core processes such as:
Resource and capacity planning
Budget management and forecasting
Roadmap development and dynamic reprioritization
Project intake and scoping
Cross-functional initiative tracking
Performance monitoring and reporting
A critical focus of this role is ensuring strategic alignment across teams and programs, proactively identifying interdependencies, and driving coordination among Engineering, Product, and Business stakeholders. The Director will establish clear operating mechanisms to track cross-team initiatives, optimize resource utilization, and manage trade-offs while ensuring projects remain aligned with broader organizational objectives.
This position also plays a key role in managing and overseeing budgets, ensuring financial accountability and transparency throughout the project lifecycle. The Director will implement and maintain tools and frameworks to track resource optimization and support data-driven decision-making.
In partnership with Engineering Managers and functional leaders, the Director will deliver actionable insights into forecasting, resource allocation, and workload balancing. These insights enable proactive management of risks and support informed prioritization and execution.
Finally, the Director will lead efforts to assist with risk management and performance reporting, ensuring that project delivery risks are clearly understood, mitigated, and communicated. This includes developing and refining dashboards and executive reports to provide visibility into key metrics, progress, and potential challenges.
This role requires a collaborative and influential leader who can build strong relationships across Product, Engineering, and executive leadership, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and results-driven execution.
Qualifications:
• 12+ years of Project and Portfolio Management experience in complex technology organiations
• Bachelor’s degree in technology, finance, business, or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred
• Project governance certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.) required

Accountabilities:
• Collaborate with senior management to identify, plan, develop, communicate, and implement department strategy, goals, and objectives for the project/program management groups that complement and support the business model and engineering objectives
• Work with senior management to define and drive measurements/metrics for the department
• Contribute to the reforecast of financial budget process as it relates to the P&L and support annual planning and forecasting exercises in alignment with product strategy
• Provide Engineering Managers with meaningful data, tools, and communications to foster greater insight into forecasting resource availability and understanding project commitments and expectations
• Oversee internal customer messaging and general management of associated product road maps in alignment with Product Management priorities
• Manage project delivery within predefined delivery goals, balancing time to market, quality, and resource availability
• Scope, plan, prioritize, lead, and drive engagement on full life cycle technical and/or related projects of varying size and complexity, including defining the goals, objectives, risks, schedule, road map updates, and resource allocation for the project
• Responsible for managing multiple assignments/projects simultaneously
• Demonstrate an understanding of the primary infrastructure architecture components and relationships
• Oversee project request process and drive assessment and trade-offs such that executive decisions can be made in a timely manner
• Proactively lead the development, evolution, and enhancement of project management processes and tools to support the project management activities and foster innovation and staff engagement to identify, design, develop, and implement improvements, efficiencies, and best practices
• Lead teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues
• Facilitate management decision-making by extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions, identifying risks/impacts and scheduling adjustments
• Represent Engineering Project Management in cross-functional teams as an SME in their respective portfolio. Oversee Project Managers with moderate to complex projects
• Participate in communicating impacts regarding capcity and demand
• Identify and make recommendations for improvement to existing processes and procedures
• Manage all phases of the project through the Product Development process
• Define key performance parameters and create regular variance reports to track progress
• Negotiate with Engineering Resource Managers for project resources
• Maintain compliance with corporate and public regulations
• Perform data analysis relevant to project tasks
• Request resource demand and review resource allocation for projects, programs, and portfolios.
• Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems
