Vehicle Structures Engineer II

Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket and an advanced additive-first factory to change how rockets are designed and manufactured. We are seeking a Vehicle Structures Engineer II to take ownership of flight and support structures through the full design-build-test lifecycle, working cross-functionally to deliver hardware optimized for additive manufacturing and factory-scale production.

Skills

  • Structural analysis (hand calculations through FEA)
  • Additive and traditional manufacturing knowledge
  • CAD proficiency (NX preferred) and PLM (TeamCenter)
  • FEA tools such as Nastran and ANSYS
  • Drawing creation and release with GD&T awareness
  • Test planning and hardware integration
  • Strong organization and technical communication

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop structural load paths and layout for primary and secondary flight structures (thrust structure, tanks, interstage, fairing, etc.).
  • Perform structural analysis and sizing using hand calculations and FEA (Nastran, ANSYS) to support design reviews and drawing releases.
  • Create, release, and manage detailed drawings and CAD models (NX/TeamCenter) for fabrication.
  • Plan, integrate, and execute hardware test campaigns; evaluate results and drive design iterations.
  • Collaborate with additive/manufacturing, loads & dynamics, design, and test teams to support manufacturability and factory implementation.
  • Support manufacturing process development including tools, fixtures, and assembly methods.
  • Document engineering rationale and maintain configuration control to meet project schedule and budget.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline required
  • Advanced engineering degree preferred but not required
