Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline and 3+ years SUAS flight test engineering experience
- Working knowledge of the National Airspace System and UAS operating rules/regulations
- Experience with test planning, execution, data analysis, and technical documentation
- Familiarity with avionics, propulsion, and flight dynamics of small UAS
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours for test events
Responsibilities
- Develop test approaches and plans to achieve T&E objectives for SUAS/quadcopters
- Plan, conduct, and analyze ground and flight test events at system and sub-system levels
- Define test measures of success and document results, test procedures, and lessons learned
- Evaluate electronics, avionics, propulsion, flight characteristics, ruggedization, and quality-at-scale considerations
- Drive process improvements and test infrastructure development
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, operations) to resolve issues
- Support regulatory compliance and safe operations in the National Airspace System
- Travel to test ranges and work extended hours as required
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited institution
- Advanced degree (MS) preferred but not required
