Structures Engineer II

Relativity Space is building reusable rockets and scalable factories to advance space access. The Structures Engineer II will take flight structures from concept through analysis, fabrication, and test, optimizing designs for additive manufacturing and working closely with loads, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver flight hardware on time and on budget.

Skills

  • Structural analysis (hand calculations to FEA)
  • Finite element tools (Nastran/ANSYS) or equivalent
  • CAD and drawing creation/release (NX or equivalent)
  • Design for additive manufacturing and traditional processes
  • Hardware test planning and execution
  • Manufacturing support and tooling/fixture design
  • Strong organization and technical communication

Responsibilities

  • Perform full lifecycle design of primary and secondary flight structures (concept, analysis, drawings, release).
  • Perform structural analysis and sizing using hand calculations and FEA to meet static, dynamic, and fatigue requirements.
  • Develop and execute hardware test campaigns, including test integration, operation, and result evaluation.
  • Support manufacturing process and tooling development, including design and analysis of fixtures and tooling.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with additive, loads & dynamics, test, and manufacturing teams to integrate systems and resolve issues.
  • Document designs, decisions, and test results; present recommendations in design reviews and ensure on-time deliverables.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline (required)
