Skills
- Proficiency with industry CAD (NX, Creo, or SolidWorks)
- Structural analysis skills (hand calculations and FEA using Nastran/ANSYS or equivalent)
- Experience producing and releasing manufacturing drawings and applying GD&T
- Test planning and execution experience for structural hardware
- Familiarity with materials, strength, stability and fatigue failure mechanisms
- Ability to own projects end-to-end in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and define structural load paths and package adjacent systems for primary and secondary structures (thrust structure, tanks, interstage, fairing, etc.)
- Perform sizing and structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA to meet requirements and support design reviews
- Create, release, and maintain detailed CAD models and production drawings
- Develop and support hardware test campaigns, including test integration, execution and data evaluation
- Collaborate with manufacturing to support process development and fabrication of flight hardware
- Review load inputs, material properties, and structural subsystem requirements
- Drive design for mass, part count, processes and tooling reduction leveraging additive manufacturing capabilities
- Document design decisions and present recommendations at design reviews
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline
