- EMT tools such as PSCAD (preferred)
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- PE licensure (Nevada required or eligible for reciprocity)
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering for utility-scale lithium-ion BESS projects from system sizing and layout through construction and commissioning.
- Interface with utilities and ISO/RTOs for interconnection studies, submittals, permitting, and compliance.
- Serve as internal SME for BESS technical challenges and code/regulatory interpretation.
- Design AC and DC electrical systems including MV transformers, inverters, DC combiners, energy managers, and battery modules.
- Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring, raceway, grounding plans, and protection strategies.
- Specify and procure long-lead AC equipment and select protection and metering components.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, fire & life safety, SCADA/telecom, geotechnical) to produce IFC packages and technical specs.
- Perform power system studies: short circuit, load flow, arc flash, and protective device coordination (AC and DC).
- Serve as Electrical Engineer of Record for assigned projects and lead QA/QC reviews.
- Provide construction administration support (RFIs, submittal reviews, change orders, site inspections).
- Prepare engineering cost estimates and project schedules and manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal standards, templates, and best practices.
- Lead R&D feasibility studies on medium-voltage DC distribution integration and support strategic grid-integration initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
