Had Sterling do mine. I listed “self-employed,” but they didn’t even verify my clients. They just asked for one reference.
They prob won’t ask for paystubs unless you claimed something fishy. Freelance usually = invoices, bank deposits, or just references.
don't wait coz background check forms are like tax forms, mistakes look worse if you don’t correct them.
It’s way more common than you think. Just email them like: “Hey, realized I filled this out wrong. I’ve been freelancing/self-employed and can provide references if needed.”
lol I did the same thing once. Put “employed” instead of “contract.” They just asked me to explain in writing and it was fine.
Reach out ASAP. HR/Background check companies are used to people messing up forms. Better to clarify than let them assume you lied.

got an internship offer and I'm super excited. then I go and mess up the background check form 😭 I’ve been freelancing for years but I accidentally marked myself as “employed” instead of “self-employed.” didn’t list clients right either.
now I’m stressing they’ll ask for US-style pay records which I obviously don’t have. it’s all real experience, nothing fake or exaggerated, just poorly filled out. should I reach out to clarify or wait it out? I don’t want this to tank my offer.
