First interview is task based? Is this normal?

they literally didn’t put any way to ask questions? sounds like either scam or lazy HR.
For dev roles it’s normal to have a technical test after a recruiter call, but starting with a big build task is weird.
5 days while you’re working/traveling?? wild. I barely get laundry done in 5 days lol
I’d pass. If they treat you like this during hiring, imagine how chaotic it is inside 😬
companies skip screening calls and jump straight to “prove yourself” tasks so they don’t waste their time.
no intro call + unpaid take-home = 🚩🚩🚩

Applied for a job. Got no response for a week. Then today, I get an email from a no-reply address asking me to build a Python driver for a very specific robot component. No intro call. No human contact. Just “do this, you’ve got 5 days.”
I’m currently working full-time AND traveling, No chance I can do that in time. But even if I could… why would I do unpaid work before even speaking to someone?
Also: they didn’t include a way to submit the work or ask questions. Is this common now??
