That $35k role sounds criminal. Honestly feels like companies are testing how little they can offer before someone says no.
It’s always the editor roles too. High expectations, garbage pay. I used to think $50k was decent until I realized I’m doing 3 jobs at once.
My job hasn’t given me a raise in 4 years and now they’re hiring someone above me for 10k less. I don’t even know how to feel.
$55k for managing editor?? that’s robbery with extra steps. they want senior-level work on intern pay.
I checked my company listings once and almost choked. Roles with MORE responsibilities than mine… paying 10k less 💀 make it make sense.
This is why they say “don’t talk about salary” lol.

i’ve been applying elsewhere for over a year with no luck, so I checked internal listings to see if a lateral move might help. I found salaries that look like a joke.
$35k for roles that need 2+ years of experience.
$50–$55k for a managing editor position asking for 5 years.
meanwhile, I make $65k after 6 years here… and I thought I was underpaid.
