Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end development and qualification of radiation shielding materials for Kaleidos and related applications.
- Plan and execute materials characterization and testing to determine properties and inform design decisions.
- Provide expert guidance on selection, design, and use of materials to mitigate neutron, gamma, and other radiation.
- Identify, procure, and operate characterization and testing equipment; ensure data quality and integrity.
- Define and improve manufacturing processes (mixing, forming, curing, coating, etc.) to meet material property targets.
- Evaluate material property data for inclusion in the company materials database and support design allowables.
- Collaborate with design and operations teams to integrate materials solutions into reactor components.
Education
- Bachelor’s in Materials Science & Engineering or related engineering degree with materials focus (required)
- Master’s or PhD in Materials Science & Engineering or related field (preferred)
