Responsibilities
- Own design of critical structures including transportable shielding systems, container systems, and high-temperature graphite/metallic components.
- Perform trade studies and select materials to meet program and environmental requirements.
- Conduct detailed thermomechanical and dynamic analysis (static strength, fatigue/durability, vibration, shock) using hand calculations and finite element tools.
- Develop and execute manufacturing/assembly instructions, test plans, and BOM management.
- Find and qualify suppliers and manage subassembly design, manufacturing, and test schedules.
- Lead risk analysis activities (FMEA) for structural subsystems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect requirements and provide clear technical feedback.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
