- Hands-on experimental and laboratory testing experience

- Welding, brazing, soldering, and coating process knowledge
- Materials characterization and standard test method familiarity
- Ability to use text-based software tools (Python or similar)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end development and qualification of metal hydrides for Kaleidos and related applications
- Plan and execute materials testing programs to obtain properties that inform design decisions
- Develop, document, and qualify manufacturing and processing methods (hydriding, welding, brazing, coating, etc.)
- Select and specify materials for components and provide expert materials guidance to design teams
- Identify, procure, and operate equipment for materials characterization and testing
- Assess data quality and validate material property data for the company materials database
- Define and improve manufacturing processes to achieve target material properties
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering or in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering with a materials focus (required)
- Master’s or PhD in Materials Science & Engineering or related fields (preferred)
