Skills
- Proven leadership in manufacturing environments
- Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication, soldering, and assembly
- Familiarity with CAD tools and mechanical design workflows
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems and ERP/MRP
- Ability to write and review test plans, procedures, and inspection requirements
- Experience integrating electromechanical and avionics payloads
- Comfort working in resource-constrained, fast-paced development environments
- Eligibility for or possession of an active security clearance
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor engineers and technicians focused on manufacturing, integration, and test of space products.
- Oversee system-level design, assembly, and testing procedures for large-scale space projects.
- Drive design for manufacturability and provide assembly feedback to improve processes and yield.
- Develop and implement tooling and scalable fabrication/assembly solutions.
- Lead integration of payloads onto satellites and launch vehicles and ensure milestones are met.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation: work instructions, quality plans, and inspection criteria.
- Evaluate and disposition nonconforming flight hardware and implement continuous improvement actions.
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers and bus providers to establish repeatable production processes.
- Hands-on engagement with technicians to build prototype hardware and iterate on processes.
- Coordinate travel for partner site integration, qualification, and acceptance testing.
Education
- Degree in engineering, math, or a hard science preferred
- Equivalent technical experience considered when degree is not present
