Vice President of Software Engineering, Support Engineering, and IT

The Vice President of Software Engineering, Support Engineering, and IT is a key leadership role at Prime Robotics, responsible for driving the strategy, development, and execution of software and support engineering initiatives for our warehouse robotic automation solutions. This role also oversees IT operations across our headquarters and robotics lab, ensuring seamless technology infrastructure and support. Additionally, the VP will play a hands-on role in customer implementations, working directly with clients to ensure successful deployment and satisfaction. 

This position requires a visionary leader who can align engineering efforts with business goals, and foster innovation in a fast-paced startup environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Leadership and Strategy 

• Work with the VP of Engineering in China (Robotics Software) to develop and execute the overall strategy for software engineering and lead the development and execution of the support engineering (US and China), and IT strategy for the US. 

• Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing teams. 

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

• Collaborate with the executive team to define product roadmaps, technical priorities, and resource allocation. 

2. Software Engineering 

• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products. 

• Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines. 

• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge. 

3. Support Engineering 

• Build and manage a global support engineering team to provide exceptional post-sales support to customers. 

• Develop processes and tools to streamline issue resolution, improve customer satisfaction, and reduce downtime. 

• Work closely with the software engineering team to identify and address recurring issues in the product. 

4. IT Operations 

• Oversee IT infrastructure and operations across the company’s headquarters and robotics lab. 

• Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of IT systems, including networks, servers, and cloud services. 

• Manage vendor relationships and budgets for IT-related services and equipment. 

• Implement IT policies and procedures to support business operations and compliance requirements. 

5. Customer Implementations 

• Play a hands-on role in customer implementations, working across teams and directly with clients to ensure successful deployment of robotic automation solutions. 

• Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and provide technical expertise during the sales process. 

• Act as a trusted advisor to customers, addressing technical challenges and ensuring their long-term success with Prime Robotics’ products. 

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Partner with robotics engineering to deliver integrated solutions. 

• Work closely with the CEO and other executives to align engineering efforts with business objectives. 

• With the VP of Engineering in China, represent the engineering and IT functions in executive meetings and board discussions. 

Education and Experience 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 

• Strong background and track record in scaling startup engineering functions. 

• Experience in warehouse logistics (warehouse management systems / wms) desired.
