What you will be doing:
The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing large datasets to uncover trends and insights, creating, and maintaining financial models to support strategic decision-making, and generating comprehensive reports and dashboards to communicate key performance indicators and findings to stakeholders. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing ETL processes, and applying statistical methods to analyze data. Additionally, the analyst will continuously seek opportunities to improve data analysis and reporting processes, ensuring data quality and efficiency. The successful candidate will possess an inherent bias for action and be comfortable working with managers, leadership, and individual contributors to refine analyses and reports ‘on the fly.’
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis – 30%
Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights. The approach to analyze the problem will be unscripted, non-routine in nature, and must be determined by the analyst.
Data cleansing and preparation: ensuring data accuracy and integrity by cleaning and preparing data from various sources; including handling missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies.
Exploratory data analysis: conducting EDA to understand the underlying structure of the data, identify patterns, and generate hypotheses using statistical techniques and data visualization tools.
Statistical analysis: applying statistical methods such as regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and clustering to interpret data results and draw meaningful conclusions.
Data visualization: using tools like SQL, Excel, and data visualization software to present findings in a clear and visually appealing manner to help stakeholders understand the insights and make informed decisions.
Synthesize information related to key performance indicators, work with interdepartmental team managers to validate variances, and follow up with managers and leaders to ensure accurate and timely reporting of KPIs.
Communicate results directly to Operations leadership team, interdepartmental managers, and individual contributors through formal and informal presentations of data.
Share key learnings with internal impacted business units (operations and sales teams).
Financial Modeling - 20%
Modeling cost-benefit analyses related to initiatives, revenue potential, labor, and productivity.
Sensitivity analyses: performing sensitivity analyses to assess how changes in key assumptions impact financial outcomes to help in understanding the risks and uncertainties associated with various scenarios.
Collaboration: working closely with finance and operations teams to ensure models are aligned with business objectives and provide valuable insights.
Report Creation - 15%
Designing reports: creating visually appealing and informative reports that highlight key performance metrics and trends, including selecting the right visualization to effectively convey the information.
Interactive dashboards: using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to create interactive dashboards which will allow stakeholders to explore data, drill down into details, and gain insight.
Regular reporting: providing regular reports on financial performance, KPIs, and other critical metrics to ensure that stakeholders are kept informed about performance and can make data-driven decisions.
Storytelling with data - 10%
Crafting Stories: creating narratives that effectively communicate the significance of data findings and their implications for the business by, among other things, providing context, highlighting key insights, and explaining the impact on business outcomes.
Visual Aids: creating and using visual aids such as charts, graphs, and infographics to enhance the storytelling process and make the data more accessible to and engaging for stakeholders.
Driving Decision-Making: presenting data in a clear and engaging manner to drive informed decision-making and strategic planning by ensuring that stakeholders understand the relevance of the insights and take appropriate actions.
Collaboration - 10%
Understanding Data Needs: working closely with cross-functional teams within Operations and across CoC to understand their data needs and provide analytical support.
Participating in Meetings: attending meetings with cross-functional teams to share insights, discuss findings, and offer recommendations based on data analysis.
Possess an inherent bias for action and the ability to work on the fly with business stakeholders to refine reports and dashboards.
Effective Communication: ensuring effective communication and teamwork to integrate insights into business processes and strategies by building strong relationships with stakeholders and fostering a collaborative environment.
ETL Processes - 5%
Designing ETL Workflows: creating ETL workflows to extract data from various sources, transform it into a suitable format, and load it data warehouses.
Optimizing Performance: working with database administrators and technology to optimize ETL processes for performance and reliability to ensure that data is processed efficiently and accurately.
Ensuring Data Quality: maintaining data quality and consistency throughout the ETL process by implementing data validation checks and monitoring data quality.
Statistical Analysis - 5%
Regression Analysis: using regression analysis to identify relationships between variables and make predictions based on historical data.
Hypothesis Testing: conducting hypothesis tests to determine the significance of findings and validate assumptions.
Clustering: applying clustering techniques to group similar data points and identify patterns within the data.
Interpreting Results: using statistical software and tools to perform analyses and interpret results to provide insights that support data-driven decisions and identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
Continuous Improvement - 5%
Staying Up to Date: keeping up with industry best practices, new tools, and techniques to enhance data analysis capabilities.
Implementing Enhancements: exploring and implementing process workflows to improve data quality and increase efficiency.

Required Qualifications
Work Experience:

Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, financial analysis, or a related role.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field; a Master's degree.
