As an NLP Engineer, you will support Pattern's Data Science and Engineering teams in developing cost-effective and practical solutions for processing and deriving insights from e-commerce data including text and images. You will work on the entire lifecycle, from designing custom datasets to deploying production-ready models, and benchmarking competing solutions.


This is a full-time role based in Lehi, Utah.


What is a day in the life of a NLP Engineer?
  • Innovate: Design and create datasets and machine learning models that solve real-world problems.
  • Deploy:  Deploy machine learning solutions in the cloud, securely and cost effectively. 
  • Optimize and Scale: Implement scalable data pipelines, optimize models for performance and accuracy, and ensure they are production-ready. 
  • Learn and Lead: Stay ahead of the curve by engaging with the latest developments in machine learning and AI. Take part in code reviews, share knowledge, and lead by example to maintain high-quality engineering practices. 
  • Monitor: Maintain deployed models to ensure they continue delivering value.
  • Report and Communicate: Report your progress and findings clearly with your manager.


What will I need to thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor's/Master's/PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field. 
  • Strong foundation in natural language processing (NLP).
  • Ability to explain why you chose a given solution over another.
  • Familiarity with methods of training and fine-tuning models for NLP.
  • Experience with AWS and remote development is a plus.
  • Experience with SEO and e-commerce is a plus. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to navigate loosely defined projects and prioritize effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Enjoy owning problems end-to-end, and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done.
