Reporting to the Program Director, this position coordinates the day-to-day activities and services of the Sensory Evaluation Center (SEC). The Program Manager supports the operational success of the SEC through the organization and delivery of contract sensory studies. Responsibilities include preparing study protocols and computer ballots for data collection; coordinating scheduling and execution of contracted research; and preparing reports for clients. The position also provides support to faculty and student research or teaching efforts that involve sensory evaluation (discrimination testing and descriptive analysis) or consumer testing. The Program Manager assists in promoting the Center’s capabilities to potential clients and provides administrative support for contract processes including preparing draft agreements; tracking billing and accounts receivable; reconciling incentive payments and Center purchases; and maintaining financial records for the Center. This role includes supervising one technician and coordinating activities of 6-9 undergraduate employees who assist periodically in study execution. The position also maintains appropriate controls to safeguard test products, client equipment, incentive items (e.g., gift cards or cash), and other assets.
Required Skills:
Skilled in planning and executing sensory evaluation experiments and trials,
including discrimination testing, descriptive analysis, and consumer tests is required.
Competency in the statistical evaluation of sensory data is required.
Fiscal management including budgetary development, incentive tracking, and client invoicing is required.
Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects.
Self-motivated and collaborative.
Desired Skills:
Experience supporting and managing the day-to-day operations of a sensory program. Experience mentoring and/or managing junior sensory personnel including students, interns, and/or technicians.
Familiarity and experience with Compusense and Qualtrics is preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Client Engagement and Program Management –
Serves as the point of contact for clients seeking services or requesting details of activities provided by the SEC;
Outlines study approaches and scope for contract sensory projects in response to client testing objectives or inquiries;
Prepares draft statement of work, cost estimates, and service agreements for review based on client needs;
Supports the organization of day-to-day execution of SEC activities, including client projects, student projects, internal grant support, and outreach;
Prepares client reports describing methods, results, and interpretation
Prepares and submits client invoices to the departmental fiscal officer for processing in Workday and, assists with tracking outstanding accounts receivable as directed.
Process and Operational Competency –
Maintains reliable records related to sensory test execution, client report writing, and fiscal management including client invoicing and incentive tracking;
Oversees the incentive ordering practices for SEC and sponsored-research projects by utilizing change order process or miscellaneous pay request, respectively;
Helps sustain SEC operations by ordering supplies, maintaining fiscal records, and reconciling cash incentives with departmental fiscal officer;
Obtains test sample safety release documentation from clients to ensure well-being of sensory and consumer test participants;
Assists with the maintenance and calibration of sensory equipment to help ensure reliable test results; Liaisons between OSU and sensory software providers to facilitate yearly discounts and advise on needed updates;
Coordinates and provides guidance to staff and student workers on execution of experimental protocols;
Cultivates growth of database membership to accommodate specific client needs (e.g. product usage, age, etc.);
Helps to monitor and maintain proper controls for client equipment, incentive items (e.g. gift cards or cash), and other items of value;
Prepares and process SEC P-card transactions in accordance with OSU policy and guidelines;
Supervising and Mentoring of Technical Staff –
Supervises technical assistant and ensures efficient coordination and execution of sensory program tasks and projects;
Coordinates activities of 6-9 undergraduate employees who assist in study execution on an as-needed basis.
Monitors performance and conducts regular evaluations of technical assistant offering productive feedback and implementing development plans to enhance team capabilities;
Participates in weekly lab meetings and constructively contributes to the development and preparation of student research findings.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred

The pay range for this profile is $ 70,100.00 - $91,600.00/annual salary. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
