This Field Applications Engineering role is for a specialist in Ethernet and Infiniband switch system design, networking as it relates to AI factories.
NVIDIA is seeking an outstanding Switching Field Applications Engineer (FAE) with deep expertise in switching and a strong focus on datacenter system and network design for AI computing. In this role, you will serve as the technical liaison for all switching activities between engineering and Nvidia customers ensuring seamless engagement and a positive customer experience.
What you’ll be doing:
Provide expert technical support for integrating NVIDIA switches into OEM partner solutions, resolving complex hardware, software, and deployment challenges.
Serve as the technical lead for NVIDIA switching products, partnering closely with sales account managers to deliver high-performance AI datacenter solutions.
Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customer engineers, architects, and decision-makers at key enterprise AI accounts.
Identify customer architectures and translate evolving requirements into actionable insights for product and solution development.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal engineering, product, and support teams to ensure alignment and execution excellence.
What we need to see:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
8+ years in system design or technical customer support in the switching and routing industry.
Deep understanding of datacenter hardware including servers, storage systems, and network devices, with extensive experience debugging Ethernet or IB switches/routers and L2–L4 network protocols.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail, capable of navigating complex technical challenges.
Proven ability to multitask and adapt in fast-paced, evolving environments while managing multiple priorities and initiatives.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Experience integrating silicon and networking OS into partner solutions.
Experience working with switch rollout in large-scale datacenters.
Networking knowledge -- TCP/IP, Ethernet switching and routing protocols, Infiniband protocol, RDMA, RoCE, NICs, Cables etc.
Knowledge of SONIC, Cumulus, MLNX_OS or equivalent switching OS.
C/C++, Python and Ansible programming skills.
