The Role

The Director of Business Excellence serves as the operational right hand to the Sales & Marketing leadership team. This individual will be responsible for leading cross-functional initiatives, managing the sales and marketing project roadmap, and ensuring strategic alignment and execution across the organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Business Excellence will have the following key responsibilities which include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Program Leadership
    • Act as a trusted advisor and operational partner to the Chief Growth Officer, the SVP of Marketing, and the extended Sales and Marketing leadership team.
    • Lead the development, refinement, and maintenance of the integrated Sales & Marketing program roadmap.
    • Ensure projects and initiatives are aligned with business goals and priorities.
    • Identify dependencies, risks, and resource needs to drive on-time and on-budget delivery.

  • Project & Initiative Management
    • Take ownership for high-visibility, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end (planning through execution).
    • Define, develop, and implement project management best practices, ensuring progress is tracked, communicated, and reported to stakeholders.
    • Facilitate agile execution processes where appropriate (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives).
    • Provide training/mentoring to project teams.
    • Monitoring dependencies across multiple interrelated projects.
    • Gather and report consolidated project status and financial information to leadership.

  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as the central point of coordination and communication on project status across Sales, Marketing, and other functional areas as needed.
    • Drive alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables between multiple internal teams.
    • Prepare executive-level presentations, status updates, and business reviews.

  • Operational Excellence
    • Build and maintain scalable tools and processes that support sales and marketing operations.
    • Develop KPIs and dashboards to measure program effectiveness and ROI.
    • Support planning cycles (e.g., quarterly business reviews, annual planning) with data-driven insights and operational rigor.

Skills and Experience

  • 12+ years of applicable professional experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Transferable skills include project management, sales lifecycle expertise, business operations, or consulting experience. Strong preference for experiences supporting sales and/or marketing organizations
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile certifications nice to have
  • Proven experience owning and evolving cross-functional project or initiative roadmaps
  • Strong understanding of marketing and sales processes, metrics, and technologies (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot,)
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and executive stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, prioritize in ambiguity, and drive strategic execution
  • Ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level
  • Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence
