Data Science & AI/ML Tech Lead
We are looking for an exceptional technical leader to join our growing team at Nightfall. As a senior, hands-on, Applied Data Scientist in our Data Science & Engineering organization, you will drive execution, provide solid technical expertise, raise the bar of the ML Engineering team, and contribute towards shaping the long-term model and system architecture of the platform.
This is a hybrid role (3 day office) based out of our San Francisco Bay Area office.
Responsibilities
Drive great execution, work with the team to set clear goals, and deliver against them
Hands-on, Data Analysis, Machine Modeling, Technical Design and Coding
Help shape the architecture of the AI Platform to enable the use of cutting edge ML technologies while ensuring it is scalable and reliable
Implement best of practices in a fast-paced engineering environment and champion a culture of engineering excellence and productivity
Requirements
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on technical development experience
Minimum 3+ years of experience mentoring and technically leading Data Science or ML Engineering teams.
Strong expertise in Python is a must. Go or C++ experience is a plus.
Practicing Data Scientist with demonstrated business impact through the use of cutting edge, Deep Learning or NLP models using frameworks such as Pytorch, spaCy, Tensorflow, etc.
Strong ML Engineering expertise with solid understanding of ML Ops frameworks such as Vertex AI, Sagemaker, MLflow, etc. for managing data and model lifecycles.
A solid understanding of ML inferencing with hands-on experience with horizontal and vertical scaling, and the use of GPUs.
BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Experience working in high growth venture-backed startups
Experience training and deploying NLP based machine models or fine tuning open-source LLMs is a big plus
Blog, teach, mentor, or help others learn outside of your day to day responsibilities
Familiarity with AWS and managed infrastructure, Docker, Kubernetes, RAG, Vector Databases
