The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and provides oversight and management of the accounting operations and finance team members within Nation’s Finest. The Controller is a crucial leader in financial operations of Nation’s Finest, ensuring transparency, compliance, and efficiency. This is a supervisory senior management position responsible for management of A/P and A/R, the maintenance of accounting records, monthly close, grant funding requests, annual audits, monthly financial reporting, and coordinating with the CFO to produce report packages for the Board of Directors, funding partners, or other stakeholders as required.
Job Duties:
40% General Ledger Management and Accounting staff
1. Review and direct all account postings from sub-systems, AP, AR, and Payroll.
2. Oversee and ensure accounting accuracy in all general ledger systems.
3. Manage monthly financial statements ensuring timely production.
4. Prepare tax schedules for annual tax filing in coordination with larger team.
5. Responsible for allocating and tracking depreciation, prepaid expenses, deposits, vacation accruals, payroll, and fringe benefit accruals.
6. Support higher-level accounting needs, consolidations, and intercompany eliminating entries.
7. Supervise A/P and A/R functions and team members.
8. Support and develop an organic, cooperative environment
30% Cash Management
1. Manage various bank accounts, including ensuring field staff have tools they need to make purchases.
2. Produce Multiple Cash Flow forecasting by Site/Cost Center and Funding Source
3. Protect business assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls and policies.
20% Grant Management
1. Reconcile all AP activities on General Ledger and Perform draw requests under all grants and notify team of concerns or questions related to funding draws.
2. Ensure financial compliance reports required for funders are produced and submitted timely.
3. Partner with the CFO to lead the financial portion of compliance audits.
4. Work with Grant Director and Grant Administration on Grant Tracking to the General Ledger
10% Operational/ Lease Management plus Ad Hoc reporting
1. Suggest and implement improvements to processes and systems.
2. Assist with collections, when necessary.
3. Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Qualifications:
· CPA or related certification preferred.
· Five years’ experience in accounting roles with increasing levels of responsibility
· At least two years’ experience working at an exempt level in non-profit fund accounting
· Experience working for a non-profit organization operating multiple programs in various geographical areas preferred.
· Experience working with auditors and a thorough understanding of the relationship between auditors and nonprofit organizations.
· Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
· Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheet, word processing and database programs.
· Experience with Sage Accounting software preferred.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work in fast-paced environment, with multiple competing deadlines.
· Ability to prioritize work tasks and efficiently allocate and manage time.

Work Environment:
Team oriented office environment in Santa Rosa, CA. This role is designated in-person and is not remote eligible.
Offering:
$98,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on qualifications and geographical location.
