Accountant
Mercor is seeking seasoned accounting professionals to collaborate with a leading AI research lab on a short-term project aimed at advancing AI capabilities in financial reporting, auditing, and compliance. This engagement involves evaluating, refining, and calibrating AI outputs to ensure accuracy across advanced accounting domains such as GAAP/IFRS compliance, tax reporting, and internal audit procedures. Participants will leverage their deep expertise to shape AI tools that replicate real-world accounting workflows. This is a unique opportunity to apply your financial expertise toward training frontier AI systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Review AI-generated financial statements, audit reports, and compliance documentation for accuracy and adherence to accounting standards
- Provide domain-specific feedback on AI outputs related to GAAP, IFRS, tax filings, and internal controls
- Develop and refine evaluation rubrics for financial analysis, audit planning, and compliance review
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI research teams to improve system reasoning and reliability in accounting tasks
- Audit AI-generated management reports and technical memos for clarity, precision, and regulatory compliance
Ideal Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional or research experience in accounting, auditing, or financial reporting at top-tier firms, corporations, or institutions (e.g., Big Four accounting firms, Fortune 500 companies, leading financial regulators)
- CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional designation preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline
- Proven expertise in one or more domains: external audit, internal audit, tax compliance, financial reporting, or forensic accounting
- Strong proficiency with accounting software, audit tools, and financial modeling
- Exceptional analytical and professional writing skills
- Candidate must reside in the US, UK, or Canada
Project Timeline
- Start Date: Immediate

Compensation & Contract
