In this role, you will...
Supervise and maintain all functions related to the Countywide Fixed Assets program, including policy and procedure oversight.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting (GAAFR), and county fixed asset policies through research, review, and technical data analysis.
Oversee annual audits, inventory controls, and year-end close-out processes, including reconciliations and reporting between systems.
Develop and implement division goals, objectives, business plans, and budgets.
Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate assigned staff, partnering with HR on employee relations matters.
Implement process improvements to enhance asset management and reporting efficiency.
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for fixed assets, providing guidance, advanced analysis, and technical expertise.
Serve as liaison with internal departments, vendors, elected officials, citizens, and the Office of the County Attorney.
Prepare and deliver presentations, including to the Board of County Commissioners.
Manage fraud prevention, risk mitigation, and compliance assessments, reviewing and addressing audit findings.
Work Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (no weekends!)
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or other related field with 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience.
OR: Master's degree in one of the fields above with 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience.
OR: 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a related field may be substituted for the required education, at management discretion.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

2 (or more) years of supervisory experience.
3 (or more) years of experience in governmental fixed asset reporting procedures.
Knowledge of local government asset management principles, practices, and techniques, including methodology, auditing, and recording requirements.
Skilled in collecting, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data, with strong quantitative analysis abilities.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse audiences at all organizational levels.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
Starting Pay Range: $62,000.00 - $70,000.00
