Job Overview

The General Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate financial records, timely payments, and effective cash flow management.

This role will support the finance team by maintaining strong vendor and client relationships, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable (AR) Management:

• Prepare, issue, and manage client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
• Track and monitor payments from clients, following up on overdue accounts and ensuring timely collections.
• Process payments received, apply them to appropriate accounts, and maintain detailed records of transactions.
• Address and resolve client inquiries or discrepancies related to billing, payments, or accounts.

Accounts Payable (AP) Management:

• Review and verify incoming vendor invoices for accuracy, proper authorization, and matching with purchase orders.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors, including electronic transfers, ACH, and check payments.
• Manage vendor relationships by resolving discrepancies, addressing inquiries, and maintaining good communication.
• Monitor due dates for payments, ensuring no late fees or penalties are incurred.

Reconciliation and Reporting:

• Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, AR/AP ledgers, and credit card statements.
• Maintain and update accurate financial records in accounting systems.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of AR/AP data.

Cash Flow Management:

• Monitor cash flow related to accounts receivable and accounts payable to maintain positive cash flow.
• Coordinate with the finance team to forecast cash flow needs and identify potential shortfalls.

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in general accounting, accounts receivable and/or accounts payable roles, preferably in a service-oriented business.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
• Proficiency with accounting software, Quickbooks and Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
