Your primary focus will be planning facility and infrastructure-related activities such as maintenance, repairs, replacements, minor modifications, and tenant improvements. This position is in the Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate and will report to the Maintenance Work Planning and Control Manager.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will:

  • Develop and document detailed work packages in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including craft-specific scope of work, task breakdowns, required materials, necessary equipment, and accurate resource and duration estimates.
  • Identify necessary permits for each task and work order, ensuring routing is consistent with established processes within the CMMS.
  • Prepare and document Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for each work order, ensure safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) are embedded prior to release.
  • Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams, applying facility engineering principles to analyze work requests, identify potential issues, and develop solutions for maintenance and replacement challenges.
  • Lead job walks to assess planning needs, prioritize tasks, and determine next steps for effective execution, ensuring compliance with ES&H requirements.
  • Oversee and manage changes to work order packages, collaborating with the relevant stakeholders to ensure proper updates and modifications.
  • Review work requests for applicability under the Davis-Bacon Wage Determination Act and plan activities accordingly, ensuring documentation is provided for final review and approval.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings to translate maintenance work processes into clear actions, ensuring materials, specialty tools, and comprehensive work instructions are captured into the work order packages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, ES&H, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with significant experience in construction, maintenance, and operations of facility systems.
  • Advanced technical writing skills with experience developing technical documents such as work procedures, work instructions, specifications, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and planning/estimating for multiple maintenance/construction projects, including coordination and inspection.
  • Proven facilitation and leadership skills to lead multidisciplinary technical discussions and planning meetings, set priorities and drive decisions, and resolve differing professional opinions through structured conflict resolution.
  • Experience as a project manager, work planner, or work activity coordinator, providing technical and/or planning support for moderate to complex maintenance activities, with knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods used for maintenance tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate with technical and administrative personnel and explain technical and operational information to customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate in team environments, present and translate technical information for diverse audiences, including management.
  • Advanced hazard identification and mitigation capabilities related to maintenance tasks and work areas to ensure safety compliance.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and common software (e.g., Microsoft Word, email, etc.) and CMMS work control software to manage and track work orders.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).
  • Prior hands-on craft experience (mechanical, electrical, and/or HVAC), providing a solid foundation in technical processes and operational workflows.
