Skills
- Deep expertise in synthesis and characterization of porous materials (MOFs, zeolites, metal oxides, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with robotic synthesis platforms and high-throughput experimentation.
- Proficiency in Python for instrument scripting, workflow development, and data handling.
- Familiarity with solid-state and solution-phase synthetic methodologies and analytical techniques.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers and data scientists to integrate hardware and software systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop automated synthesis workflows for porous materials across multiple chemistries and synthetic routes (e.g., solvothermal, hydrothermal, ionothermal).
- Build, operate, and optimize robotic platforms and parallel synthesis systems for high-throughput experimentation in partnership with engineering.
- Integrate hardware (reactors, sensors, analytics) with software pipelines for metadata capture, scheduling, and orchestration.
- Enable closed-loop experimentation by partnering with AI teams for iterative hypothesis generation and experiment planning.
- Characterize synthesized materials using relevant techniques and collaborate to maintain documentation and data standards.
- Contribute to platform development, protocols, and reproducible experimental design across cross-functional teams.
Education
- PhD or M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Significant laboratory experience in materials synthesis and characterization.
