Skills
- Deep expertise in photonic devices, photonic integrated circuits (PICs), and semiconductor physics
- Strong understanding of silicon photonics design and integration
- Experience developing laser solutions and knowledge of laser physics
- Familiarity with control systems, test/validation methods, and firmware interaction
- Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with packaging, thermal, electronics, and system teams
- Experience interacting with vendors and supporting high‑volume manufacturing
- Excellent written and verbal communication and complex problem‑solving skills
Responsibilities
- Define and execute engineering plans to deliver high‑volume laser products from concept through validation and production
- Collaborate with product, architecture, hardware, firmware, and test teams to translate high‑level requirements into detailed designs
- Drive cross‑disciplinary problem solving across electronics, photonics, mechanical, thermal, packaging, and ASIC teams
- Develop and oversee production test plans, validation protocols, and prototype characterization
- Work with external vendors and manufacturing partners to qualify processes, components, and timelines
- Balance performance, reliability, power, cost, and schedule tradeoffs to meet product targets
- Document designs, results, and decisions; present technical results to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Education
- Ph.D. in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related discipline preferred
- Alternatively, equivalent industry experience may satisfy the education requirement
