Production Manager

Lead and manage a production department responsible for manufacturing components and finished assemblies across metals, plastics, or composites. Drive operational excellence in planning, quality, safety, and team leadership to meet delivery, cost, and efficiency goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Management: Plan and coordinate daily activities across forming, machining, fabrication, coating/finishing, and final assembly; ensure schedules align with downstream requirements and customer commitments.
  • Quality & Safety: Implement and audit quality standards to achieve high first-pass yield; lead corrective/preventive actions; ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety regulations and company policies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead supervisors and coordinate crew leads; hire, train, and develop skills; manage staffing and timekeeping; lead accountability and continuous improvement in the production departments.
  • Process Improvement: Reduce waste and variability using lean/Six Sigma methods; manage TPM/maintenance schedules; improve material utilization and throughput while controlling materials and labor costs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering on DFM/DFA; work with Quality on specifications and compliance; coordinate with Operations/Customer Service on delivery; engage Suppliers on material quality and availability.
  • Performance Management: Track OTD, FPY, scrap, rework, OEE, and OPE; analyze production data for trends; prepare performance reports and manage departmental budgets and material ordering.
  • Bachelor’s in manufacturing, Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Operations, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years leading production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, molding, coating, or assembly) and quality systems
  • Demonstrated results in team leadership and operational targets
  • Experience with lean/Six Sigma and production planning/scheduling systems
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • $85k - $115k annual salary
