Procurement Director (Commodities & Food)

We are partnering with a prominent food manufacturing organization to identify a seasoned Senior Procurement Director who will spearhead procurement strategy and operations throughout North America. This executive-level position will provide oversight for national procurement activities while orchestrating sourcing initiatives across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Located at the company's Pennsauken, NJ corporate offices, the successful candidate will supervise a varied procurement organization and champion strategic sourcing programs spanning food commodities, direct materials, and indirect spend categories. Close collaboration with cross-functional departments such as Planning and Finance will be essential to achieve robust P&L performance while maintaining supplier excellence, sustainability goals, and innovation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee supplier partnerships, contract negotiations, and comprehensive lifecycle management
  • Establish and deploy unified procurement strategy across North America, harmonizing regional requirements with corporate goals
  • Champion operational excellence and digital/AI productivity programs
  • Orchestrate development and implementation of regional category strategies spanning US, Canada, and Mexico
  • Maintain compliance with ESG initiatives and supplier diversity mandates
  • Create raw materials coverage strategies to mitigate commodity market volatility effects
  • Execute category spend alignment and cost optimization programs
  • Direct strategic sourcing approaches including supplier segmentation, performance enhancement plans, and ethical sourcing practices

Required:

  • Comprehensive food procurement background with internationally traded commodities (sugar, flour, cocoa, dairy)
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, food science, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in developing and mentoring procurement organizations
  • SAP or comparable ERP system expertise
  • 10+ years relevant experience including 7+ years in procurement leadership roles
  • Superior analytical, communication, and influence capabilities
  • Experience overseeing both commodity and non-commodity portfolios
  • Expertise in commodity hedging, coverage, and futures markets
  • Documented success managing global expenditures of $100M+

Work Structure:

  • Hybrid arrangement: 3 days weekly onsite at Pennsauken, NJ corporate headquarters

Salary & Incentives:

  • Competitive base salary: $180,100 - $220,000 (determined by experience and location)
  • Target annual incentive: 20% (based on individual and organizational performance)
