Electrical Field Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing

Our client, an established automotive supplier, is seeking a dynamic Resident Engineer to join their growing team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work directly with key automotive clients as their primary onsite technical liaison. The successful candidate will be stationed at customer facilities, playing a crucial role in product launches, technical problem-solving, and relationship management within the automotive manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a client-facing environment, possess strong technical acumen in automotive systems, and excel at cross-functional collaboration. This position offers significant autonomy, visibility within our client's organization, and the opportunity to build long-term strategic partnerships with major automotive OEMs.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Problem Solving:

  • Serve as the primary onsite technical point of contact for automotive clients, addressing technical issues and project updates
  • Provide immediate technical support to resolve production and quality issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Support the launch, validation, and integration of new automotive products, components, and systems into vehicle development processes
  • Interpret and communicate complex engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards to cross-functional teams

Project Management & Communication:

  • Monitor project milestones and ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and customer specifications
  • Facilitate seamless collaboration among design, manufacturing, quality, and logistics teams
  • Document technical issues and escalate as necessary, keeping all stakeholders informed of risks and solutions
  • Collect and analyze data from field tests and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement initiatives

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Manage and develop strong customer relationships through exceptional service and technical expertise
  • Analyze and assess client needs and goals to provide tailored technical solutions
  • Track and manage customer change requests (CR) and internal change requests (ICR) through approval, implementation, and finalization processes
  • Maintain high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication and rapid issue resolution
  • Industry Experience: Proven background in the automotive market with hands-on experience in automotive systems and manufacturing processes
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to manage customer relationships, provide technical support, and assess client needs and project goals
  • Process Management: Experience tracking and managing change request processes (CR/ICR), including approval workflows, implementation monitoring, and terms finalization
  • Communication: Excellent coordination and communication skills with ability to work effectively across multiple departments and with external clients
  • Language: Fluent English required; American accent preferred for client interactions
  • Work Style: Strong organizational skills with exceptional follow-through on projects and commitments
  • Availability: Willingness to be present at customer sites when required and travel less than 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Tier 1 automotive suppliers (Bosch, Continental, Aptiv, etc.)
  • Background in automotive product development and validation processes
  • Experience working in OEM manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of automotive quality standards and compliance requirements
  • Project management certification or experience
  • Technical degree in engineering or related field

Salary: Up to $140,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
