Sr Director - Engineering (Remote - US)

This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of power system engineering and high-voltage substation projects. The Sr Director - Engineering will oversee and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, providing technical guidance, strategic direction, and operational oversight. The position requires a strong blend of industry expertise, leadership, and business acumen, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and on schedule. You will influence innovation, optimize processes, and manage risk across complex EPC T&D and substation initiatives. Additionally, you will cultivate client relationships and contribute to organizational growth, driving the adoption of advanced energy intelligence solutions. This role has a direct impact on both team performance and the broader modernization of the electrical grid.

Accountabilities

As Sr Director - Engineering, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the engineering department.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of power system engineers.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams for effective execution of tasks, ensuring project success.
  • Optimize organizational efficiency through process improvements and structured workflows.
  • Oversee risk management for EPC T&D and substation projects.
  • Resolve complex engineering challenges, ensuring timely and high-quality project completion.
  • Manage Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibilities for the engineering department.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and technical expert.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, business development, and growth initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive team culture.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.

Candidates should have:

  • 7+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
  • Minimum of 15 years in the power systems industry, with strong knowledge of utility-scale T&D and high-voltage substation projects.
  • Familiarity with substation design, protection systems, layouts, and engineering packages.
  • Deep understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis software such as PSSE, PSCAD, TSAT, ETAP, SKM, PSLF, and AutoCAD.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or higher (preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders collaboratively.
