Senior Software Engineer - Backend

You’ll develop robust APIs, optimize data flow, and integrate modern cloud technologies—all within a flexible, remote-first environment. Your technical leadership will directly impact a growing platform used by employers, insurers, and families across the country.

Accountabilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems supporting the web-based platform.
• Develop and optimize RESTful APIs in collaboration with front-end engineers.
• Drive code quality through rigorous reviews, testing, and performance tuning.
• Partner with product teams to translate user needs into scalable backend solutions.
• Identify and resolve production issues, improving reliability and uptime.
• Monitor system performance and recommend architectural improvements.
• Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and frameworks.

• 5+ years of backend development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
• Proficient in designing RESTful APIs and managing SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB).
• Experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, RDS, EC2, SQS); exposure to Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, with expertise in data structures, algorithms, and scalable architecture.
• Familiarity with Git version control, software testing practices, and agile methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical issues to cross-functional teams.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field; experience with low-code tools like Retool is a plus.

• Salary range: $145,000 to $180,000/year, plus equity options and performance bonus.
