Full Stack Engineer

This is not your typical engineering role—joining the Innovation Team at Thomson Reuters means working at the very frontier of AI innovation in the legal industry. You’ll get hands-on experience with the latest advances in artificial intelligence, often having early access to cutting-edge models from top frontier labs before they’re released to the public. Our work is fast-paced, highly experimental, and covers a wide array of use cases—from helping judges to generative legal drafting—so you’ll constantly be exposed to new technical challenges and creative problem spaces. We place a high value on freedom, initiative, and original thinking; in fact, our team requires “10% insubordination”—we encourage pushing boundaries, questioning assumptions, and hacking around roadblocks when needed. If you’re passionate about exploring uncharted territory in AI, love rapid prototyping, and thrive in an environment that prizes curiosity over hierarchy, you’ll find this role both energizing and deeply rewarding.

About the Role

As a Full Stack Engineer on the Innovation Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and deploying end-to-end software solutions that bring new product ideas to life.

  • Building robust, intuitive front-end user interfaces as well as developing scalable and maintainable back-end services.

  • A key part of your role will be integrating our prototypes with Thomson Reuters' existing systems, which requires creative problem-solving, adaptability, and an ability to quickly ramp up on unfamiliar technologies and internal APIs.

  • You will collaborate closely with AI/ML engineers, product managers, and legal domain experts, ensuring that each prototype not only demonstrates technical feasibility but also meets the high standards of accuracy expected in the legal tech space.

  • Flexibility, curiosity, and a “get things done” mentality are essential as you’ll frequently switch between greenfield development and learning to use Thomson Reuters' existing tech platforms.

About You

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • You should have at least 3 years of experience building both front-end and back-end applications, preferably in fast-paced or prototyping environments.

  • Proficiency with modern JavaScript frameworks (such as React) and backend technologies (Node.js, Python) is essential.

  • Experience working with large-scale enterprise tech stacks is required.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), RESTful APIs, and database systems (SQL and NoSQL) is expected.

  • You should be comfortable working with ambiguity, adapting to evolving requirements, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Previous exposure to legal technology or AI/ML applications is a plus, but not required.

  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn the ins and outs of Thomson Reuters' internal systems are critical for success in this role.
