Payroll Support Specialist (Remote - US)

You will act as a trusted resource for partners and their customers by managing complex payroll and tax inquiries with accuracy and professionalism. Working primarily through written communication, you will navigate high volumes of support tickets while maintaining responsiveness and clarity. Collaboration across internal teams will be key to resolving issues and improving processes. This position is ideal for someone passionate about payroll compliance, customer service, and building strong relationships in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.

Accountabilities

• Efficiently manage and resolve a high volume of inbound support tickets related to payroll and tax questions, consistently meeting or exceeding service level agreements (SLAs).
• Provide accurate, compliant, and clear solutions to complex payroll inquiries, ensuring partner and customer satisfaction.
• Communicate with empathy and ownership, building trust and confidence with every interaction.
• Escalate issues appropriately and collaborate across departments such as Engineering and Tax to facilitate timely resolution.
• Occasionally engage in real-time communication via phone to resolve urgent or complex matters.
• Maintain detailed records in ticketing systems like Salesforce or Zendesk to track support activities and outcomes.
• Contribute to a culture of exceptional service that feels personal and memorable.

• 4+ years in a client or partner-facing role, with at least 2 years working at a payroll provider or in a related payroll compliance function.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments with strong organizational and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple tickets and priorities.
• Clear and kind communication skills across email, phone, and chat platforms.
• Comfortable using ticketing and CRM systems such as Salesforce or Zendesk.
• Based in Pacific or Mountain time zones.

Willingness and ability to attend an annual 3-day company offsite.

• Competitive salary ranging from $78,500 to $102,500 depending on location (higher range for major metro areas such as San Francisco, NYC, LA, and Seattle).
