This role offers a senior leadership opportunity to define and drive technology strategy across a mission-driven organization. The Managing Director of Technology will lead enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives, modernizing operations and building scalable, secure software platforms. The position requires close collaboration with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with business goals, optimize operational efficiency, and enable advanced analytics and AI solutions. The role also involves reengineering core processes, enhancing regulatory compliance, and fostering a high-performance technology culture. Ideal candidates have a proven track record in leading technology modernization in regulated environments and a passion for leveraging technology to create measurable organizational impact.
· Define and execute the organization’s multi-year technology vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
· Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on digital innovation, systems modernization, and data strategy.
· Lead cross-functional programs to modernize and automate critical operational processes, enhancing speed, accuracy, and compliance.
· Drive delivery of core technology initiatives, managing vendor relationships, build-vs-buy decisions, and project execution from architecture through implementation.
· Build and lead a high-performing technology team, implementing modern engineering practices suitable for a regulated environment.
· Develop and maintain robust data infrastructure, enabling advanced analytics, AI applications, and operational insights.
· Ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness across technology platforms and processes.
· Establish KPIs, delivery metrics, and agile processes to track project progress and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
· Bachelor’s degree in a technical field. Advanced degree preferred.
· 15+ years of progressive technology leadership, including hands-on experience in architecture, development, and delivery.
· Experience leading technology in a regulated environment, such as life sciences, healthcare, or CROs.
· Proven ability to modernize systems and lead cross-functional teams through transformation initiatives.
· Strong knowledge of SaaS platforms, data integration, automation tools, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or similar).
· Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as 21 CFR Part 11 and HIPAA.
· Demonstrated expertise in agile delivery, vendor management, and scaling technology teams.
· Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
· Passion for mission-driven work, research integrity, and improving operational efficiency in clinical or community health settings.
· Competitive salary range: $200,000–$240,000 annually.
