Lead DevOps Engineer (Remote - US)

This role offers the opportunity to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a secure and scalable DevSecOps platform that supports both cloud and on-premises environments. You will play a critical role in modernizing and sustaining modeling and simulation systems while ensuring operational readiness for complex training environments. The position requires hands-on technical expertise combined with strategic oversight to drive automation, security compliance, and cross-team collaboration. You will work closely with development, security, and operations teams to integrate DevSecOps practices, optimize platform performance, and support system modernization. This is a high-impact role for a technically skilled professional seeking to shape and maintain mission-critical infrastructure in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Accountabilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain scalable and secure DevSecOps platforms for cloud and on-premises environments.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with integrated security tools to ensure efficient and secure software delivery.
• Manage containerized environments with Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, RMF, and NIST 800-53 frameworks, collaborating with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities.
• Provide technical leadership to support software modernization, transition engineering, and sustainment efforts.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to maintain platform performance and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DevSecOps practices into the software development lifecycle.

• Active Secret clearance required.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in DevSecOps roles.
• Hands-on experience with programming languages such as C++ and Python.
• Proven expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and cloud-native architectures.
• Certifications: Security+ CE or Linux+.
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and IaC tools.
• In-depth knowledge of DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including RMF and NIST 800-53.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor technical teams while ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
