This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Wealthfront. We are currently looking for a Director of Home Lending in the United States.

The Director of Home Lending is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing mortgage origination, operations, and compliance functions within the home lending unit. You will manage a team of originators and operations professionals, ensuring efficiency, regulatory compliance, and exceptional client experiences. This role involves optimizing lending workflows, collaborating with technical teams on system enhancements, and implementing scalable solutions for loan origination. You will also provide leadership in training, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate combines deep mortgage industry knowledge, strong regulatory expertise, and a passion for leveraging technology to drive operational excellence.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and support a team of mortgage origination and operations personnel, providing guidance, mentorship, and workload management.
  • Ensure loan origination processes are compliant with federal and state regulations, including TRID, HMDA, and NMLS requirements.
  • Oversee configuration, optimization, and integration of Loan Origination Systems (LOS) to support scalable, efficient, and compliant operations.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design workflows, system enhancements, and automation solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage pipeline support for origination and operations, maintaining workflow balance and providing backup support when needed.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs, reference materials, and standard operating procedures for new states, products, or regulatory changes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement technology-driven solutions to enhance client experience and operational performance.
  • Partner with compliance, legal, and audit teams to maintain regulatory alignment and support licensing, audit, and reporting requirements.
  • Promote a positive team culture by reinforcing values, encouraging accountability, collaboration, diversity, and continuous development.
  • Minimum of 7 years of retail mortgage lending experience, with at least 4 years in leadership roles.
  • Deep knowledge of Conventional, Conforming, and Jumbo mortgage products.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state lending regulations and experience managing regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Experience with digital lending platforms, Loan Origination Systems (LOS), and other mortgage technology tools.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical teams on system configuration, workflow optimization, and platform integration.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a focus on leveraging technology to enhance business processes and client experience.
  • Competitive salary range: $130,000 - $145,000 USD plus equity and discretionary bonus.
