Skills
- Native or near-native fluency in Dari with strong command of regional dialects
- Deep understanding of phonetics, morphology, syntax, and semantics in Dari
- Experience with translation, transcription, or language documentation
- Strong written communication and the ability to clearly explain linguistic judgments
- Attention to detail and ability to produce reproducible, well-documented error reports
- Comfort with basic digital tools for annotation and remote collaboration
- Ability to follow annotation guidelines and maintain consistent labeling
Responsibilities
- Converse with AI models in Dari across diverse topics to surface linguistic and cultural errors
- Verify translations, grammar, idioms, and dialectal usage for accuracy and appropriateness
- Document reproducible error traces and detailed failure modes for model improvement
- Provide concrete suggestions for prompt engineering and evaluation metrics
- Annotate, label, and score model outputs according to provided guidelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (linguists, ML engineers, QA) to refine instructions
- Maintain clear, metacognitive communication—showing reasoning and steps taken during evaluation
- Follow data security and confidentiality requirements and use a secure computer and internet
Education
- Degree in Linguistics, Dari Studies, Translation, or a related field preferred
- Or equivalent professional experience in teaching, translation, or language documentation
- Familiarity with language annotation or evaluation methods is a plus
